Swamp Thynge XX

Over Labor day weekend, a small group of friends went down to Middletown, Delaware for an event called Swamp Thynge. Although some of this is done in my own jaded vision of positively looking at the world, all of the facts are, well ya know…factual.

The event this year turned out to be small in comparison to ones off previous years… After all there was an Earl that was supposed to show up that day…. No , not that kinda Earl, a swirly Earl, the hurricane Earl. Category 4 Monster of a storm that swept of the east coast instilling every one of visions of terror and death and destruction and… yeah well see no one know my super power is in fact, weather control…. Ok Maybe now control, how bout communication. I have a knack of telling bad weather to veer from a location, if I ask really nice, most of the time it does. So I looked Earl in the eye Wednesday and said, ya know… Please Mr.’ hurricane, all big n bad. Go north. I love storms but my friends don’t. Besides camping in one hurricane was enough for my life time.

So with the threat of massive damage most people that usually travel for the event stayed away, with some just day tripping it for just one of the days. This was both a good and bad thing. Not as many of the tents that I love to see, but also made the functions easier to navigate. Now I’m not gonna bore you with all details or draw out this report like I normally do. This one is just with cliff notes.

Our Group:

The cast of our characters that went started with me and Manuel linking up first, then hooking in with Quinton. Isabella and their lil one. Slowy the rest came, Phaden and Andromeda towed Jackie in, Our new member Heather, Gavin Bonnie and the kids, Then finally Carlie later in the evening.

Stuff saw:

Goats, playing, Padrick Dancing, me getting danced around, firing of a Trebuchet, New friends, Beautiful sunsets, Shooting stars!!!! ( I saw lots!) Ducks in a row, new crafts, period cooking, heavy fighting bear pit, the worlds best archers (yes, in fact they all come to that event), Hot dancers, Irish music that you could dance to!!, a harp at a fire pit, lots of foods, low key royalty, cold nights, and amazing night skies.

Stuff Done:

Bullshitting with Manuel for hours (rare we get to do that with just the 2 of us), Doing shots with Adam outside his tent, setting up said tent while drunk (collapsed the next day snapping a pole) Danced about the fire a little, Got danced around the fire by a hot blonde who was amazing at it. Working the range, teaching kids how to throw sharp stuff, spending quality time with my campmates, let a girl borrow my bed, more getting crunked, getting into trouble with Andromeda, the great pie incident, stargazing on the battlefield with a girl, late night wrestling on the battlefield with a girl, making out of the battlefield, watching the archers do their thing, getting to know the royals, Teaching newbies how to throw (actually got commented on it) Teaching Manuel how to throw, Juggling, Wire weaving (thank you Sue!) Court dancing (a lot), Night throwing (2 nights of it) Pie for breakfast, red necked, long walks and talks with friends, and doing what I do best J .

Hehe there was another section for stuff said, but most of it goes forgotten now. If anyone reading this that was there has comment on it speak now J , I only remember a few quotes (it’s in my eye, you can’t polish a turd, you gave her a bed, you feel like a black guy, No you can‘t go into the porta castle with that.)

Overall even though it was low key, having as many friends as I did there made up for it ten fold. We had a great time in most places and although there were rough spots, we managed to get to know one another a lot better then we did before the event started. Thank you to all my friends who showed and the new ones I happen to make along the way there!
