This has been the month of sickness. It feels like I've been under the weather or downright out for the count anywhere from one to three days of every week. The whole family has been like this, but this week we've finally all been well. That is until today when I woke up feeling pretty poorly. The jury is still out, but I really hope I'm just tired and not sick. We plan to take the family to the
Zoo in Asheboro, NC over the weekend but not if we're feeling bad.
I'm still liking the new camera. I didn't think I would need to purchase a new lens but I've already picked one up. The lens supplied with the camera is great for general family pictures but after going to the
zoo in Roanoke (sort of a build up to this weekend) I realized that I'd need something with a lot more zoom. I found a relatively inexpensive (as these things go) telephoto lens with active vibration reduction. It's been raining since I got it, though, so I haven't been able to try it out or to try the polarizer I also picked up. I'm a huge fan of intense sky and saturated landscape colors in photography so I'm really looking forward to the latter. It'll also help with photography of rivers, waterfalls and lakes by reducing ambient reflections. I'm planning on attending the
Oceana Naval Air Station Air Show so I'm sure both the lens and polarizer will come in handy for that as well.
I'm working on rebuilding the family photo gallery, but it's going to take a while to go back through all the old photos. I may just start the new gallery with the new camera's photos and get to the old stuff later.
On the cute side of life, in order to break our son from having to nurse to sleep every night I've been taking him downstairs to hang out with me. He plays a bit, fusses a lot, watches TV some and eventually falls asleep in my arms. It's really adorable... except for the screaming and back arching that comes before the adorable. He's getting really good at screaming and flailing when we keep him from doing something he wants to do, such as climb down the stairs, eat cat food or pull on electrical devices... He's mobile now though, up and walking around pretty good! He's very proud of himself when he walks a good number of feet on his own. He also points at nearly everything and makes an inquisitive noise. "Da? Bub?" Also he does say "kkkkkk" when he sees the cat so I think he's definitely on track with that word.
