A while ago I ran a poll in a few different places to find out what kind of tracks y'all wanted to hear. For the most part you wanted everything, but for now here's the first set:
eight fresh
Stepmania tracks from Coal's Hotfoot Mix, chosen specifically because of some WTF factor. At some point each of these songs has caused me to wonder, "WTF?" As will probably always be the case, all tracks include single player steps for Beginner, Light, Standard, and Heavy-- no Double, Solo, or Challenge modes, unfortunately. Remember, these are still preview versions, so please try them out and give me feedback. I'm especially unsure of the foot rankings I've given these-- I based them off of Stepmania's suggested values, but honestly what do they know? Yeah, and of course, feel free to share these with someone who might actually care, or just download them for the edited mp3s.
Crucified (edit) - Army Of Lovers
Apparently this song was #1 on the Eurochart for eight weeks back in the early nineties. WTF Europe?
Also, compare the chorus of Ayumi Hamasaki's song
Pride. Is it just me, or... WTF Ayu? Naw, maybe it's too much of a stretch-- but I'd still like to hear a mashup.
KAMIHITOE (edit) - Amy-N-Ryoo
I bought this album sound-unheard (that's the aural equivalent of "sight unseen", right?) simply because of the cover.
Seriously, WTF?
Letterbox - They Might Be Giants
Considering lyrics, instrumentation, and sheer mass of output, TMBG gets a permanent "WTF?" rating. This particular song was voted "most danceable" track on Flood.
Re-Educating Rita (edit) - Carter USM
First of all, Carter's full band name is actually Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine. Second, the band members are Jim Bob (vocals) and Fruit Bat (guitar). And that's for the live shows, too. W, T, and F.
Rendez-vous (edit) - Hikaru Nishida
I picked up this album because an associate wanted to know what Hikaru Nishida sounds like. They wanted to know this because apparently she is admired by Shinzo Abe, who at the time was about to become the new Prime Minister of Japan.
Also, this song is totally like crazy, am I right?
Theme from Metroid (edit) - Stemage
For a
redo of an old video game song, this rocks really hard. Wait you know what? Screw the modifier-- this rocks hard regardless. Time signature changes for the win.
Viva Las Vegas (edit) - ZZ Top
The best thing about ZZ Top is how much Al Jourgensen (of Ministry fame) loves them.
The second best thing is this version of a classic song.
We Like Girls - Brak featuring Zorak
"Oh we don't care about shape or size,
About the number of heads or tails or horns or eyes.
Oh we like girls!
Yes it's true, we really do...
We like girls!"
