It occurs to me that someone coming across this might be wondering what's happening these days in the world as it relates to me outside my head.

Well, I'm still living in downtown Toronto near the harbour, still, as ever, very happily alone. I'm working for the same software consultancy I've been with for a little over five years now. I've been on contract, for just short of a year, to a smallish government agency, where I've been developing specialized business systems using current Microsoft technologies. Their offices are close enough to where I live that I can walk to work, which I find a source of delight.

I have a four-year-old niece and a nephew just turned two (They're my brother's children), of whom both I'm very fond. I'm fortunate enough to see them quite frequently, which is another, more significant, source of delight. The four-year-old loves games of make-believe and seems to regard me as one of the more satisfactory adults with whom to enjoy this type of activity (although it's possible I flatter myself). The two-year-old is learning words at an amazing rate, is fascinated by buttons and BIG TRUCKs and has recently stopped calling me Apple Quiche.
