First Day at Bingo

Once my 8:30 Comp & Crit class wraps up here at Bonas, I hit the road for another semester at Binghamton. I'll only need to make the commute once a week--on Wednesdays--most of the semester, which'll be a nice relief compared to last year.

At 1:00, I'm taking a course in Native American Folklore. At 4:30, I'm taking a class in the African Diaspora. I signed up for both classes for no other reason than because they sounded interesting.

I'm also doing a poetry writing workshop--which might as well be a foreign language class!--that meets once a month for an entire weekend. On those weekends, I'll have to go Friday night so I can hit class Saturday morning, then after a full day of writing stay again Saturday night to hit class again Sunday morning for another full day of writing. I'm anxious to see where that experiment takes me.

While I'm looking forward to the semester, I have to admit that I have some reservations about having the stamina for the commute. While it'll only be half as much driving as last semester, the thought of that long highway stretching out in front of me holds no excitement. To make it worse, only one of my thirteen textbooks is available on Kindle, so I won't be able to listen to my texts as I drive this term, which is one of the things that made last semester doable. I'll have to spend more time physically reading my books instead of listening to them. That'll be a major time-suck.

I am heartened by the thought, though, that I'll have five of my eight courses out of the way by semester's end. I can conceivably get the other three out of the way next term and be done with my coursework, which I'm pumped about.

Let the adventure begin!
