I got word from the Provost first thing this morning that I'd been selected as a recipient of this year's Senior Faculty Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Publication. It's an award I've aspired to someday win, and with the book deal and all the magazine publications in the last year, I'd hoped this would be a good time. Pauline put in a strong nomination on my behalf, and then Ted submitted a second nomination, so the package was, I thought, really strong. I was so, so excited to get this news--and so, so grateful, too.

This has really been an extraordinary year for me, professionally, with the Ph.D., promotion to full professor, this award, and of course the book deal. I have been very blessed.
