Sending Out Positive Vibes

On one hand, I suspect my FB page often looks like it belongs to a positive-energy, self-affirmation guru. I try not to flood it with platitudinal self-help warm-and-fuzzies, and try not to be new-agey, either. I try to post quotes that would be of interest to wide audiences. Still, once upon a time, that kind of stuff used to drive me nuts when I saw it from other people. I try to be sensitive to that so that I'm not inundating people. I post things there, though, that I happen to come across during the course of my day as a way of sharing the things that speak to me, that resonate with me, that help me feel good at any particular moment. Sometimes, I admit, it feels a little like whistling past the graveyard: I try to pass along positive-energy stuff as a way of convincing myself of the very things I'm sharing with people, or as a way of reminding myself of something I might be wavering about at the moment.

Yesterday, I had a colleague from the Business School stop me to say how much he appreciated all the positive energy my posts off. It was nice to hear that I was, in some small way, making a difference for someone. Sometimes that's hard to know, especially in the impersonal world of social media. It was nice to be reminded.
