From an e-mail Caity sent me last fall, quoted in my dissertation:
"Sure, I would love to see Us chronicled in your words-I think it would be important. But even more important is that you don't give up on what happened."
I guess there are two ironies there in back-to-back sentences. "Us" is finally getting chronicled (in the dissertation)-and while certainly "important," at least to me, I think it would make her uncomfortable because it recounts a lot of good times that she gave up on. (So maybe that's three ironies....)
