Much to my pleasant surprise, I have 30,000 words written on my dissertation, so I'm in pretty good shape for a 50K-word draft by month's end. I have some key scenes to write, which will plug in some important holes that I know are still there. The overall structure has not yet snapped into place for me yet, but I can feel it starting to bend in the direction it needs to go. I'm hoping to get enough done over the upcoming long weekend that I'll be able to see it clearly by midweek next week.
As I went through my notes today to see what scenes I still needed to write and what documents and information I still needed, the one thing I'm missing that I really need is a copy of Caity's Sunken Road walking tour outline. Of course, I just promised her this week that she'd never have to hear from me again, so asking her is out of the question. There are some sideways ways I could ask around for it, but I think that would just seem sketchy. Quandary.
I'm excited about the project overall, though. I'm starting to see what it might look like, and I'm starting to see light at the end of the tunnel, too. I'm in a good place, I think.
I have to send stuff off to Leslie next week, so we'll see what kind of shape I'm really in after that!
