Exam 02, Day 01

Jun 16, 2012 03:50

My second field exam started today (well, Friday). It was supposed to come at 9:30 a.m. or so but didn't come until 11. No biggie. I spent the extra time pulling some of my sources together.

Here's the question I'm writing about (which is different that a question I'd initially developed about "truth vs. fact"):

In this book about writing, The Triggering Town, poet Richard Hugo says, “Many writers and writing teachers believe reading and writing have a close and important relationship. Over the years I have come to doubt this.” Drawing from your book list, write an exam of 20-25 pages that explains the relationship between reading and writing as articulated by writers. In that context, examine Hugo’s doubts and explain why they might or might not have merit.

I finished the day at 4,226 words, with about seventeen pages. It's 3:45 a.m., so I'm going to hit the sack.
