How I Spent the First Part of the Week

I had the pleasure of speaking last night to the Outer Banks Civil War Roundtable about the battle of Chancellorsville. What a great bunch of folks! I'm really glad I went down. They put me up for the night, but I went a couple days early to take advantage of some R&R and some time to write. Caity went with me, so we had a really nice time together seeing the sites and doing some Civil War-related things for the blog.

I had several e-mails from members of the Roundtable waiting for me when I got home:

"what an enjoyable presentation. We hope we can get you back in the future."

"your presentation last night to the Southern Shores Civil War Roundtable was absolutely great. Thank you!"

"Loved the presentation last evening; I am now motivated to make a site visit. Great job!"

"Thank you so much. That was a fantastic presentation. Everyone I have talked to said it was one of our better ones. Well done. Thank Caity for coming. It was a pleasure having you both. I am glad you had a nice time. We need to line up another presentation. Would you consider doing another one in August in conjunction with your vacation?"

So, hopefully I'll be making a return trip in a couple months!

The Outer Banks saw a “perfect storm” of Emerging Civil War contributors this week: Caity Stuart and Chris Mackowski had the chance to meet up with Drew Pullen down in Hatteras, N.C.

Drew has been instrumental in organizing the upcoming “Flags Over Hatteras” conference, April 26-29, 2012. He took time out from his preparations to give Chris and Caity a tour of the special Civil War exhibit at the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum. Artifacts on display include:
