Hong Gil Dong WHY?

Sep 01, 2010 00:24

Happier days of Hong Gil Dong, it was fun while it lasted.

After my initial reaction to the ending, even though I knew it was coming months before I actually watched the drama, I thought I'd be able to handle it and take it like an adult.

My mind lied to me.

I failed.

Now I'm at that angst precipice of life where I want to act like a spoiled two year old and never watch another Kdrama ever again. But when I think of Jang Geun Suk as Tae Kyung and all my distress and sadness dissipates. But then I consider watching Hong Gil Dong again because despite the ending, it was a really good series. The first half was funny, down the middle it became interesting because of the friendship between Gil Dong and the Hwal Bin Dang and Chang Hwe and his followers. I love friendship stories. But then the ending hit me like a fish slap in the face and this is while I KNOW it's coming.

Seriously if I had been an avid follower of the show when it was running and had this ending permanently burned into my memory bank...I CAN'T EVEN IMAGINE THE SCENARIO!

You can keep you symbolism and meaningful endings and whateverthefuck it's describes as these days, I want my happily ever after damnit!

review au revoir, jang geun suk is a guy seriously, hong gil dong oh why
