So I thought about blogging all this in increments, but since it mostly about Wonder Dave’s tour I figured he would do that somewhat in his blog space. In any event we left a few hours late but with still enough time to make it to the first gig at Betty’s Blue Star Lounge on the NW side of Chicago at the Girlie Q burlesque show. Dave did absolutely wonderful in his performance poetry between the burlesque performers. Also they had a live 40’s singing group called the Pin Up girls who stole the show.

Friday was a day to chill with my friend who I was staying with, hit up the Chicago Landmark - HOT DOUG’S, I had a Gyro Dog complete with Fries Cooked in Duck Fat. Then had to quick make a postcard sized flyer for Dave to hand out, and copy at Kinko’s. Then off to the Friday night show at the Jackhammer in Roger’s Park. A much less hard core place then the website led us to believe, fortunately I can could leave the leather / rubber at home for this one. Dave found some ‘fans’ to ‘entertain’ toward end of the show, so I skipped out and found other things to do.

Saturday no shows planned so we were all kind of tourists, and continued my curse of the Piano Bars not have Piano Players when I am there.

Sunday I was good boy and got up for Church, I went down to the Willow Creek branch at the Auditorium Theater. Then Brian came down to go to the Art Institute since it was free for the month of February.

Sunday night was the famous Green Mill poetry slam the home of Poetry Slamming with the founder of Slam Marc Smith as the host. Dave won the Out of Towner’s slam so it was a good thing.

Monday I got to see Brad as he took the train down to meet me before I hopped on the Mega Bus back to Minneapolis at noon. The bus was pretty much on time and as to be expected, so all in all a good trip.
