So my new schedule began this week at the Airline, which is good I think - I now work Thursday - Sunday from 4pm - 2am, and have Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off. So that is kind of nice, granted it cuts in to the “social” nights out, but honestly that has not been all that. I needed to make sure I had Tuesday nights off for Chorus, otherwise I wanted something that might be flexible. My idea is if I am able to secure a normal 9-5 ish job, then I can modify the Thursday / Friday start times to accommodate that and essentially work 2 FT Jobs for a while to get caught up on stuff.
Job Search
This Thursday, the 8th, marks my one year with the Airline - I never expected to be there this long, believe me. But alas. People ask why I haven’t found something yet, and that is not an easy questions. I view this opportunity as a pretty solid move, so I am truly putting weight on aspect of the job not previously important. One, I would like something that will work out to be longer term, I have been involved with some early turn start-ups, and they have been great, but the exit strategy is usually 3 years. Secondly, I am at a point personally where benefits have to be a part of the deal, my body isn’t getting any younger (even though I think I am) and so have insurance against something medical is important, and the ability to balance work and life. I have rejected a number of opportunities that I would have jumped on when I was fresh out of college simply because they offered no compensation (only equity), no benefits and sometimes not the most solid of business plans. So I continue.
I have some solid, key bites as of recent and I am going through their process right now, I think one should turn into an offer and the other combines two industries I love and have tons of experience in, Airlines and Technology. We shall see.
So out of the “market” for a little longer than anticipated, but by choice - which is nice.
