New and On going Writer’s Challenge - Why I Don’t Write
Creative Writer is issuing a challenge to its members to write a short piece (500 words or less) on why you don’t write. Each week the most interesting, most entertaining reason will be placed as part of this news letter. Let your fellow strugglers see that they are not alone!
Deadline for submission each week is Friday midnight YOUR time. You may enter as often as you wish (there are a lot of reasons why those words just cannot find their way into print!) Submissions received after 8:00 AM LONDON time will be added to the next week’s submissions.
To submit, send email to cw_owner@anarkian.net or cw_owner@livejournal.com. Please do not send as attachment, place piece in the body of the email. Please include lj user name in subject line.
This Writer’s Challenge is open to creativewriter members only.
Maintenance
Tags If you will notice, there is no longer a TAG CLOUD on Creative Writer. Instead, the tags have been placed with a scroll bar for easier access. Tags are listed by user name, type of work, and genre if a short story or a novel. Introductions, other writing community information and member questions are also tagged.
Membership Verifying membership is continuing. The numbers will fluctuate between 1000 and 1050 for a while as we continue to work on getting dead and deleted journals off of creativewriter.
Ownership I am now at a place where I will be taking the OWNERSHIP of creativewriter back from Ayoub (lj user=anarkian>. He took ownership several months ago in order to prevent the closure of Creative Writer due to legal liabilities. I appreciate the work he did to keep Creative Writer open and WORKING. My sincerest thanks to you, Ayoub. You kept Creative Writer alive.
Up Coming Events
The quarterly Writer’s Challenge will be posting on Saturday. We have moved this to a quarterly event to give writers more time to write a piece that brings them a source of pride. The announcement will be January the 13th. The deadline for submission will be February the 28th, 2007. We are still working on the actual challenge and the award for first, second and third place winners. We will post all of the details and rules on the 13th.
January 13th will also bring Ayoub and my first meeting to begin forming a structured business plan for Creative Writer. The goal is to bring Creative Writer into Non Profit status. We will meet for two hours to outline our goals and steps we will take. This will be a monthly meeting until the business plan is complete, then the meetings will move to quarterly.
