well, my family has come and gone! as i expected, the visit went by much too quickly and it sucked when everyone had to leave. finn and his cousin stephen (who is five months older) had the best time playing together the entire time, and it was so fun to watch them interacting with each other. of course there were some spats over toys and things, but for the most part, they got along really well and just had so much fun.
we did so many things. we hit the indoor water park for stephen's birthday, we went to the denver zoo and the cheyenne mountain zoo, my sister, mom and i spent a morning at the spa and had lunch together, and we had a bbq at the reservoir near the house. that didn't end so well... finn and stephen were running around playing with bubbles, and finn managed to trip and fall right onto his face on the concrete. i just about had a heart attack and was instantly worried he could've knocked out teeth. luckily, that wasn't the case, but when i ran over to him and picked him up, blood was just pouring out of his nose and mouth. one of the ladies at the bbq with us was a nurse, so she checked him out and decided his nose wasn't broken, but it took quite a while to calm him down and he had a huge fat lip. he's so accident prone, he's going to be the death of me.
jaime and evan and the kids had to leave a few days early due to a family emergency, but my parents stayed on the rest of the time. we headed into the mountains to go to rocky mountain national park, but the weather screwed us over. it had been so nice the whole time, and as soon as we headed into the mountains, it was the wrong time. trail ridge road through the park was closed due to snow, so we just headed onto frisco and our hotel for the evening. we had dinner at an awesome brewery and then all went to bed. when i woke up and looked outside, there was snow on the ground and it was a mess. we hadn't brought the AWD because honestly, it was the last day of may! so i had to drive us home over the pass in our CRV and pray we didn't die in the horrible weather. by the time we got halfway back to denver, it was sunny and perfect, of course. so that was interesting.
gavin's and my sixth anniversary is on june 10th, so we're almost there. gavin's parents are going to watch finn and we're going to try to go out for a nice dinner and to see a movie or something. we usually don't make a big deal out of it, but it'll be nice to just have a date and spend some time together. it's kind of hard to believe it's been six years already!
that's really all that's been going on recently. my parents are still trying to move out here, if my dad could just find a job in colorado. i'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping something will pan out SOON!
