New New Who

Wow. Just wow.
I had been seriously looking forward to the new series- not without a certain amount of trepidation, I have to admit, but ever since I had to do a complete Ann Rice with regard to Catherine Tate I gave up on worrying over much about casting decisions. And with Moffet at the helm, I was confident of some decently plotted and seriously creepy episodes.

Which we got- how scary is the idea of there being an unnoticed room in your very own home? The place where you live, where you sleep, your refuge and base, and there's an alien hiding in a secret room. Erk.

I'm liking Matt Smith. A bit David Tennant in the more manic moments, but that's okay. Tennant was a bit like Eccleston at first. If he's still copying Tennant in three episodes time, that'll be a problem, but since this first episode involves the process of transition from one incarnation to another, I'm not too worried at this point.

And I loved the 'What do Time Lords like?' routine. I was half expecting him to try thistles at one point.

Amy's got a lot of potential. It seems that the Doctor has a bit of a thing for bolshy redheads. And that someone in the production team has a thing against said redheads getting married....

The new music... erm. Well, the main theme is intact. I still miss the 'Boom!' at the end though.

The montage of upcoming episodes looks very promising- more weeping angels, yay! And more Daleks and Cybermen. That could go either way- if they get treated as 'We have to do at least one Dalek and one Cybemen episode per series' it can be dull. Fingers crossed.

Basically, I'm happy. Roll on next Saturday.
