They killed HFS. Remember that radio station? 99.1, "the TRUE alternative." Perhaps you loathed it, perhaps you tolerated it, perhaps you listened to nothing else. No matter what your feelings, it was in institution. I personally can credit that station with completely altering my music tastes and making me the punk lover that I am today. Shortly after listening to the station for the first time, I decided that I wanted to go to HFStival. That was my first rock concert, and the beginning of a whole new appreciation of punk music. Anyone who has ridden in the Taupe Taurus can attest to the fact that that station was one of The Big Four that I stopped at on a regular basis, and it was perhaps the only station which I would listen to through commercials. Now that glorious institution which I loved so much has been replaced with "el Zol," a Spanish music station. I have no problem with Latin music, I have no problem with new music. BUT WHY HFS?! WHY NOT WASH FM? WHO LISTENS TO WASH FM ANYWAY?! While I hope that my horizons will be broadened once again by the 99.1 spot on my radio dial, I cannot help but feel saddened* by the loss of so great an institution.
*by saddened I mean I feel as if my intestines have been ripped out and wrapped around various bushes in the manner of Christmas lights while little gnomes of evilness hit my head with tiny mallets.
