breakfast of champions

Early morning at Milliways means that X makes her way downstairs, stops to spend a moment talking to Bar and picking up a reasonable facsimile of breakfast, then heads outside, presumably for exercise.

Or company.

Or both.

It largely depends on the day.

Early morning at Milliways is occasionally very routine for all its members.

Rachel's gymnastics take place in the garage but recent changes to her training have meant a slight location change. Mostly because there is a punching bag outside the bar, but not in the garage.

It extends her time away from Tobias a little but they're dealing with it. Or she hopes he is. They're doing their best anyway.

...yeah.

That's where she is when X comes outside, frowning at the punching bag. She's already been at gymnastics for a couple of hours, flushed and energized, but the punching bag is a heavy piece of deadweight. She keeps checking over her shoulders to make sure no one is looking before following the routine X taught her - punch, slide, kick. Repeat.

X moves in a wide arc as she approaches Rachel, taking care to hit her field of vision from the front and not the side.

It is only polite.

She does not speak, however. Not least because this gives her an opportunity to study Rachel's form.

And how hard she is hitting.

In some cases, it is also wise. Though Rachel isn't as absorbed in training as she would be in a fight.

Where it's really important not to interrupt her.

...unarmed.

Punch - as hard as she can, determined. Slide - graceful and smooth, especially after gymnastics. Kick - a little more awkward, not as smooth, but as hard as she can.

Repeat.

Until she notices X anyway.

"...hey."

"It is good that you are not stationary. When you practice."

This pause lasts a little bit longer than it should, perhaps.

And belatedly --

"Hello. Rachel."
