It's cooler in the late afternoon, which is why X is using this time to meet Kate down at the stables for riding lessons.

It will be interesting.

And useful.

Kate has been spending a lot of time in the stables since she got back from Texas. She has some making up to do with Beaut, and a few other lessons to crack on with.

She's filling in numbers in a ledger when X enters.

"Kate," X says, pausing a few feet away.

"Hello."

"X!"

Kate has grown accustomed to listening for every minute sound, especially when she's in the stables here at Milliways. You can never be too careful, not knowing when someone's sneaking up behind you.

X is quieter than most.

"Golly, y'startled me. Good thing I was expectin' you."

She throws her pencil down, smiling wanly.

"How are ya?"

"I am okay," X says, very seriously.

This is followed by a longer pause as she studies the other woman, head tilting ever so slightly.

"You are still busy? Now."
