X, too, stays silent as she lifts the containers of fish flakes and bloodworms, carrying them over to the tank and lifting the lid.

The cats stay where they are, although both sets of ears perk up.

X has taught them well.

"Yes. I have cleaned the tank recently."

Beat.

"It is okay."

It only takes her a minute or two to finish up and return the food to the freezer.

Then she resettles on the couch, legs tucked up beneath her.

It is comfortable.
