deer and ramblings

So when I fed the cat this morning I surprised a young white tail buck. He barely had any antlers, I got a good look because initially he bolted over to the edge of the yardarts property. I don't know why, but I thought that it was funny and laughed out loud. He then stopped and walked back towards me a little stopping in the road. He then cocked his head and just watch me on my front porch. It was surreal, usually when I see deer they bolt. He fled off into the woods a few seconds later. Just the way that he cocked his head, makes me smile.

Speaking of wildlife and the porch, I stepped into a squirrel on Saturday. Julian didn't feel the need to completely eat all of his kill and left it on the front porch. I usually feed him around 6:30 in the morning, so it's dark, thus squirrel guts in my toes. Thank god they weren't warm. With his usual flair for dramatic kill placement, the paws of the squirrel had been removed and place in a row. Weird ass cat.

Tomorrow my house gets overrun by Gaberts, Dad's coming up from Florida, and my Aunt, Uncle, and Grandfather are coming down from Michigan. I'm looking forward to them being there, and at the same time, it's going to be weird to have people in the house. It's been almost 7 months, and I've gotten quite used to it just being me, I don't know what I can do, but it just doesn't feel like a home at all.
