beer and cycling

I've been riding quite a bit lately, last week I finally broke 100 miles for the week. Not a hell of a lot when the goal is to ride 150 in 2 days. But I gotta start somewhere. And last fall I was only riding 30-50 a week. So this is good.

All of this riding has me poking around with the bike and making sure that I keep it in pretty good shape. Well my rear wheel is no longer domed, it has a flat spot that runs the entire circumference of the tire. I have never worn out tires before! I usually ride over some sort of hidden razer wire or some other destructive force. So I swung by the Trek store in front of Greenlife after last night's ride and started talking tires with one of the owners. He wanted to look at the bike and my tires so we went out to my car and he noticed my home brewing sticker....

I left the store with 2 very nice tires all in exchange for me teaching them how to brew! I've got some extra equipment that I am going to give them, and run them through a complete brew day in the next few weeks. This is one of the coolest things that I have ever had happen. A complete stranger, and a few minutes of talking and I am going to get someone else brewing their own beer, and in exchange for that I get a set of tires for my bike?!?!?!

I drove home last night beaming, and eager to hop on my bike tonight and start wearing these tires out,
