She made sure that her side of the room was clean and even brought in some cookies and a drink for Maron for when she came. She wasn't exactly very good at hosting, but she wanted to do the best to help her friend feel better after the mess that was last week.

[for one!]

Maron had brushed her hair, the routine making her feel a little more--settled and walked slowly down the stairs.

She wore her rosary, the one she always carried with her, around her neck. Right now she needed the reassurance and no one here, but Fiona perhaps, would understand it as more than a simple rosary.

Knocking lightly on the door, she tried to focus her thoughts.

Fiona came to the door and opened it, offering a little smile to Maron in what she hoped was an encouraging way.

"Come on in," she said, holding the door open.

"Thank you," she said quietly, then looked up. "Ah--this," she fingered her rosary's chain, "this won't cause any problems, right?"

In a way, after all, they were on opposite sides. But not at the same time. It was confusing for her.

Not really. Just because she was the daughter of a fallen angel, didn't mean she was fallen after all.

"No. Definitely."

She even put her hand up near it and wiggled her fingers.

"Told you. Not evil."

"Sorry," she said, looking down and slipping in. "I didn't mean anything by it."

Maron looked around the room a bit helplessly.

She shook her head.

"Just letting you know you don't have to worry."

Fiona pointed at her bed, where a very small blue-furred kitten was curled up in a ball on one of the pillows.

"You can sit there if you like."

Maron sat gingerly, a small smile crossing her face when she noticed the kitten.

"A new friend?" she asked, one hand keeping track of her rosary while she watched the kitten.

Fiona nodded and walked over to scritch the little kitten awake. It didn't so much work as Nyx just sort of flopped over on her belly and streeeeetched, but the cat was awake.

"You can pet her if you like."

She reached to gently brush the soft fur with light fingers.

"She's darling."

Nyx mrowed happily.

"Her name is Nyx. I got her last week."

Maron's smile was soft.

"And she's happy."

Fiona watched the kitty purr under Maron's hand.

"She is."

Then she sat down at the head of the bed.

"In answer to what you asked, though, no."

Maron glanced to look at her.

"No?"

She nodded.

"I don't think it means anything. You... 'falling'. I don't think it means anything more than you let it mean."

Maron shook her head.

"I don't--I wasn't me there, and yet I had so much of His--"

Fiona waited for Maron to continue. She wasn't going to answer half-arguments and cut sentences. That wouldn't help anything.
