- room 223 - monday afternoon - 8/17 -

Fiona didn't have much to do on Mondays but be confused by her class (her thankfully finished class) which was why, of course, she ended up calling her brother. It took a few tries before he picked up, at which point the growly, grumpy mutter of Eliot's voice started in with--

"Not everyone has such a light course load as you, you know."

Wherein Fiona talks to Eliot again. )

Peyton hadn't seen Fiona in way too long, which would be why she was stopping in to see how she was doing.

And, well, if she happened to end up in some of those pictures which might get sent to others, well... she didn't know anything about it.

"Peyton!"

She was pleased to see the other girl, as one could tell from the happy (or pretending to be for the moment) smile on her face and the wave to come in. The kitten just sort of flopped on the pillow unhelpfully.

"Want to help me with this?"

"Sure," Peyton said with a smile. "And what is 'this' exactly?"

"Getting pictures of my kitten," she admitted, pointing to a very unhelpful little Nyx. She was looking cute and adorable on her back, batting at the strap on Fiona's camera, but she was also squirming a lot.

"Eliot wanted pictures. I don't know if he actually believes me."

"She's adorable."

Peyton reached down to stroke the little kitten. "What can I do? Play with her with string or something?"

No, of course she didn't blush at the mention of Eliot, why would she?

Fiona noticed but didn't say anything, mostly because she was regretting mentioning Peyton at him when he'd brought up Griff. Vocabulary insult was one thing, but it totally would have been worth it.

"String, you think? That might be good. It's hard to get the camera in the right place while she's chasing the strap."

So, she might have talked to him once or twice. Or more. About music, of course.

"I can imagine," she said, laughing as the kitten licked the tip of her finger with a happy purr. "I think if we can distract her from that, it should work."

Fiona looked around for something similarly stringlike before actually facepalming.

Then she handed Peyton her yo-yo.

"Pull out a little bit of the string and dangle it?"

It wasn't too hard to get the kitten interested in the yo-yo string and Peyton was laughing delightedly as she watched the little thing stalk and pounce at the string or get up on its hind legs to grab at it.

[ooc: And I must dash, back later this afternoon!]

She grinned and started snapping pictures, glad that her camera was quick enough not to get just a blur of fur and string. She'd have plenty to send out at this rate.

Peyton eventually snuggled up the little kitten cradling it by her neck as it purred happily.

"She is so adorable, Fiona!"

Fiona couldn't help but laugh.

"She is. She's... really sweet. Scritch her behind the ears and she kind of sounds like a boat engine."

"I've never actually had a pet," Peyton admitted. "But she's awfully sweet."

"I've never had anything like this," she said, admitting her own inexperience, "but we were at the pet store and she kind of looked at me. I couldn't really say no."

And she'd really been very good for Fiona, helping her relax more, feel more without having to touch other people. She'd never been exactly comfortable with touch much before she'd had to cut into herself, but she'd relaxed about it after Robert when it was easier to feel that way. She felt more balanced now.

"If I knew where I was going to end up..." Peyton said wistfully. "But it wouldn't be fair at this point."

"I worried about that too," she said, "but if I'm a goddess, I figure I can at least argue up for keeping my cat. It'd be pretty silly if I couldn't."
