What is he doing? Certainly Georik would yell at him later. It is rather reckless on his part, but he feels fine. Staying in the clinics is only keeping a bed away from someone more deserving, right? And besides, it is for a good reason: he really missed Mia, and was quite convinced that she was dead. Minus the days where she may or may not have come to visit while he was drugged to sleep to keep him from leaving the clinics right after surgery, anyway.
They probably won't even notice that he's gone, anyway. Or so he keeps telling himself as he leads Mia back to his house via the nexus portal that deposits them in his room through his closet.
Being in his house after several days is great. There is a comfort that only comes with being home, and not worrying about the smell of hospital or the beeping of various machines.
