I know I already told you but this is absolutely gorgeous! The image of sleepy James is quite lovely I have to say. *grins* And it's combined with this heartbreaking feeling of loss. Just wonderful. The ending is so awesome as the illusion shatters. Thank you so much for this my love. *hugs tight*

Price to pay

I have heard your own men call you heartless and cold, cursing your name as they cast fearful glances at my crew. They say you only care about business, not caring about the lives you have to sacrifice along the way. They call you a monster.

No one knows it's never money you gamble with. In your game there's more at stake, weighed by dark, kohl-rimmed eyes.

What you risk reveals what you value.*

Sometimes I think only I can see who you really are. I, who have lost and paid the price. You have lost a long time ago, one day you're going to have to settle your debt too.

One day. Two chest in deep slumber under white sand.

Death was always a constant companion, all sailors learnt this valuable lesson quickly. Few men who put to sea were so arrogant, or foolish, to underestimate the dangers that surrounded them at every turn. James had been no exception; indeed he fully expected to die at sea and in his younger, more fanciful days, had often wondered about the moment of his own demise. However, as with most things, the reality far exceeded anything he could have imagined ( ... )

Wow. This is incredibly good. Oh James, my poor James. The description of the nightmare was so vivid. I loved this a lot!!
