Hello all, I’m a little early today, just because. :)
Since I am balancing several fandoms I have been wondering lately about how people get sucked into fandoms and what makes them stay. The characters? The plot? The possibilities of that universe? The communities on lj or any other site? What fascinates me even more is how these different fandoms affect each other and how a person’s own preferences influence the choice of fandom/pairing.
For example, if you love a pairing in one fandom does that affect your preferences in another fandom? If you like Willabeth are you more likely to like Cameron/Chase (which is my opinion is very similar) and less likely to ship House/Cameron, which in my opinion is more like Sparrabeth? If you’re a Meckett shipper are you likely to ship House/Wilson in House, Harry/Ron in Harry Potter and Nick Cutter/Stephen Hart in Primeval? And as a Speckett fan are you prone to like Harry/Draco? And so on…
In short: What fandoms are you part of beside PotC and how do you think your own preferences show in your fandom/pairing choice and in what way do the fandoms influence each other, if at all?
