I haven't written a post in about two weeks, because there's been a lot of drama going on in my life, and it's been really distracting. Sometimes it can be really hard to figure out what to do when you're dealing with adults who at times seem like they haven't moved on since high school, but really I'm just going to try to forget about it all and try to have a nice summer.
On a far more positive note and in that vein, I just enjoyed a few days off, and they were all pretty wonderful. Here's some highlights of things that I did:
1) Went to my favorite comic book store and picked up some new great reads, including Magneto Testament by Greg Pak. Definitely highly recommended, and an overall 5 star read.
X-Men
Today, the whole world knows him as Magneto, the most radical champion of mutant rights that mankind has ever seen. But in 1935, he was j

2) Picked up some other wonderful books at my local Half Price Books, including this particular gem, which I'm very anxious to read:
There Once Was a World

3) Binge-watched the entire first season of Gentleman Jack, based on the real life stories of the first "modern" lesbian, Anne Lister:
This series is definitely worth a watch, and it's being hailed as the next Downton Abbey for it's sparkling, witty dialogue, rapid paced, engaging plot, and luscious fashion choices.
4) Listened to amazing oral histories about Stonewall that truly moved and inspired me, both as a member of the LGBT community and as a professional librarian who collects oral histories. Seriously consider giving them a listen, but make sure that you have some tissues on hand when you push play, because you might need them!

5) Had fun with my sister's kids, including going out to dinner, reading some Mercy Watson books, and getting Menchie's ice cream.
6) Visited the beach with my sister down at Edgewater, and got some sun.
Bonus round: I'm wrapping it all up with a rewatch of my favorite X-Men movies, including Days of Future Past, which is probably my favorite out of all of them. I mean seriously? The whole line about, "How are we going to find this guy, I have no idea where he is?"
And Hank's response:
Now that's pure gold.
Every scene with Quicksilver is also amazing, particularly the bit with the guards in the Pentagon:
Last but not least, all the desperate, "we're trying to pretend we aren't totally in love with each other, but we super are," looks that Charles and Erik exchange throughout this entire movie.
So to wrap up, I had a great few days. And I'm looking forward to this next week, because I only have to work three days, and then it's off to Columbus to spend time with my bf and his family. So I'm hoping for a short and stress-free week, and a fun 4th. Hopefully everyone else enjoys the same!
Signing off, have a great night my lovelies,
