The past few weeks have been pretty hectic. My mom and Alex came to Winnipeg for Christmas. This was the first time I've held Christmas at my home, so it was pretty exciting. On the 23rd my Aunt called and said that they wouldn't be traveling to Dauphin because of the snow storms, so our little Christmas dinner turned out to be bigger than expected, which was great!
The visit overall was good, except for a little hiccup involving a downloaded virus to my computer the evening before they left. I don't actually know what happened, or when it happened, but the result was a complete format and reinstall.
Thankfully, I had purchased a 500 gig portable hard drive on boxing day and backed up my personal files, pictures, music and email/contacts, so I lost very little. Backing up my files was something that I had the good intention of doing for way too long - I'm lucky I got around to doing it just in time.
My mom also bought me a fancy printer/copier/scanner/fax on boxing day. It wasn't something I needed when I was working and had access to using the printer the few times I needed it, but when you need something printed and you can't it's a huge pain the ass. It's pretty crazy that a little printer can do so much these days! Copying? Faxing? Amazing!
I start school on Monday. I can't believe it's actually time. I'm a little anxious, but excited. I won't get my student loan until Monday and my money for supplies until mid-week which means that I won't have books for a few days, but I don't think that will be a problem.
I suppose I'm as ready as I can be. I'm spending this weekend putting away Christmas things and cleaning out my storage room, closets and getting rid of a few things. I want everything clean and organized so I can start the year off right.
Well, I should get back at it.
Happy New Year, everyone. Hope 2010 brings you much luck and love.
