2011: Not the way I planned it but even better than I imagined!

Happy New Year's to everyone that I missed saying that to! It has definitely been a long time since any LJ posts, but I noticed my written grammar failing and I needed a place to write down my 2011 resolutions so I'm back! (And hopefully to posting more often than those New Years resolution go to gym people who only show up for the first month of January than stop!)

My NYE was pretty awesome, but not in the way that I expected. Short summary:

How it didn't turn out as planned: Hot date to end 2010. Date went well but said date isn't commitment material so we're no longer talking.
How it ended better than imagined: Ended up ringing in the New Year with friends and dancing the night away with new guys (and non-pervy ones who are actually good dancers!) ;)

How it didn't turn out as planned: Bought tickets to Bootie at Mezzanine but friends were stuck outside with no ticket. (event sold-out)
How it ended better than imagined: Other friends that we were to meet up with later got table service at Lot 46. Sold tickets to Bootie and paid for admission to Lot 46, making a small profit AND being able to hang out with a bigger group of friends, all in one move!

How it didn't turn out as planned: Waited for the bus in the rain. First bus was not in service then some empty cabs went by. Tried to flag down an empty cab but no one stopped. (Man, I am such a West Coaster! Don't think I'd last very long in New York, lol)
How it ended better than imagined: For a bus that I sometimes call the "dirty-8", the 38 never looked so beautiful! Added bonus, the bus was not crowded but I did get to meet up with brother and friend who got separated from earlier in the evening. Catching up + having walk-home buddies = yay!

I guess sometimes sticking too closely to plans/ expectations is not as important as ending up with a better result. Well, if the theme of 2011 is to overcome not sticking to mediocre plans and ending up in a much better situation, then I can't wait for what the rest of the year has in store!
