hey all! this is my first fanfic so i hope you all like it *fingers crossed* (: please leave comments about anything! i'll be happy to read them!
everyday, jinki lived life like he was invisible. it was't that he was ugly or unattractive, he was actually pretty good-looking with a mop of brown hair and eyes that disapeared behind his bangs when he smiled. he was polite and nice, it's just that people don't notice him.
while waiting for the bus that would take him to school, people would jostle and squeeze past him, pushing him all the way to the back of the line. he would be late for school, but it didn't matter because the teacher doesn't acknowledge his presence. during lunch break, he would be sitting by himself, his eyes wandering to those tables which were occupied with groups of people. he always wondered what it was like to have a friend, to share secrets, or just to spend time with. the only 'friend' he had was his classmate who sat next to him and only spoke to him whenever he needed a pen or paper. other than that, he would be like the rest, ignoring jinki. he wasn't sure he even had feelings anymore. he was numb, numb to the cold reality that greeted him everyday when he woke up, when it was only him and himself. he had decided long ago that he would build up walls around his heart to spare him from any more agony than he could tolerate. he felt nothing more like a robot, devoid of human feelings and emotions. he has never felt love, acceptance, warmth from the people around him. he was scared to talk to people for fear of rejection, so he kept to himself.
one tuesday morning, he woke up and told himself that it was time to stop the routine. he decided that he would try and do whatever he can to talk to people, to start making friends. he would be determined to make the first move to get acquainted with people. he got dressed, ate his breakfast and it was raining heaily as he made his way to the bus stop. he started smiling at the people standing around him, making eye contact but they just turned away without batting an eyelid and carried on doing their own things. he told himself not to get deterred for there would be someone out there who would notice him. hopefully, a small voice in his head added. but little did he know, there was a particular someone standing at the back of the bus stop looking at him with an amused smile on his face.
when the bus finally arrived, as usual, he got pushed to the back of the line. when it was his turn to board, the door suddenly closed, making him lose his balance and landing on the wet pavement with a plop!, drenched by the neverending droplets pouring down on him. jinki started to pick himself up when he noticed a shadow to his left and the fact that he wasn't being pelted by rain anymore. he looked up and caught the gaze of a boy his own age, smiling and grasping a pink umbrella in his right hand. "hello, my name is kibum. what's yours?" the feeling of someone looking him the eye and talking to him was too much for jinki to handle. he blinked for a few moments before managing to say, "jinki. are you really talking to me or is this just a dream?" kibum giggled and lightly pinched jinki on his arm and said, "no silly, this is not a dream." jinki just laughed awkwardly and reached a hand up to ruffle his damp hair. "Omo, you're going to get sick if you don't try your hair," kibum said while rummaging his bag to find a packet of tissue. when he finally found it, he started wiping jinki's face and hair with it.
in that moment, jinki felt something he never felt before, like something was coming alive in his heart, filling him with emotions that was unknown to him before. he finally felt what it was like to have someone care for him, acknowledging his existence. he felt so happy he thought could burst. when kibum was done, he looked at jinki, "there, all clean now. hey, i'm a new student at your school. mind going with me? i don't wanna get lost." jinki beamed and said, "of course, let's go!" they decided to walk there instead of talking the bus to get to know more about each other. jinki was talking about the subjects he was taking when suddenly, he felt a hand slip into his. he looked down and saw kibum's hand snuggled within his, and no words could express how he felt at that moment. he squeezed it tighter and pulled kibum closer to him. a blush ran across kibum's cheeks as they walked together in the rain, under the pink umbrella.
jinki never spent another day alone after that. his days were spent with kibum, both in their own private little world where they were free to do anything they wanted. they spent the evenings after school watching movies, doing homework, and everything they did, they did it together. they were always there for each other, supporting one another and cheering them on. it didn't take long for jinki to fall in love with kibum, and kibum to fall in love with jinki. both knew their feelings were mutual but dared not make the first move.
one day, when they were out celebrating the end of exams, they were strolling hand in hand along a street when suddenly jinki turned to kibum and said, "hey, i wanna tell you something." kibum turned and hummed, "yes?", with his gaze on jinki, wondering what he had to say.
jinki leaned in and pressed his lips softly against kibum's pink ones. kibum's eyes fluttered close and pressed into jinki's chest. jinki wrapped his arms around kibum's waist and held him tightly. "hmm, taste like strawberries," murmured jinki into kibum's lips. kibum broke the kiss and let out a small chuckle, wrapping his arms around jinki's neck. they stayed like that for awhile, kibum resting his head against jinki's chest while jinki planted small kisses onto kibum's hair.
jinki whispered into kibum's ear, "i love you. now and forever."
"why me?"
"because you saw me when no one else did."
kibum looked up into jinki's eyes and saw his earnest gaze. "i love you too, always." jinki pulled kibum closer and whispered, "just the two of us.", his eyes brimming with tears as he cupped kibum's cheeks and kissed him tenderly.
