also, i've been meaning to post this one for a while. It stood out to me because most soundbites about human nature refer to either its baseness or its nobility, but not both. From the dailydharma for Nov 18, 2009:
But having practiced and looked at all the things that have arisen in my heart, I’ve seen that while some things were fine and beautiful, many were not so noble.
