Mmmmm... history. There are days when I wish I could study more and more of it, it's just so fascinating. I loved it in school (except for rote memorization, which I am horrible at) and one of my fondest childhood memories was my father's long row of Will and Ariel Durant's History of Civilization, which was one of his prized collections, slowly built up over the years of saving for each volume. When a leatherbound collector's edition came out, he pounced on it (we were in Paris) and he said I could have his old set. Sadly the old set got mostly eaten by termites (leading to us discovering that they chew through cement!) though I still have a few of those precious volumes. I'll reobtain the missing tomes someday (I found a volume in a second hand shop but it isn't one of the ones that got destroyed, so I have hope!)
I actually found myself looking around near our village entrance (gated subdivision) and wondering what it'll all be like five years from now because of your photos, because the field that used to alternate between being a soccer field and overgrown with six foot tall grasses is now seeing a spate of commercial development. We have little restaurants and such now, and when we moved in almost half my current lifetime ago, there was one fruit stand, a small convenience store, and a bakery. Now we have an optical shop, two dentists that I'm aware of, two hardware shops, a 7-11, several different bakeries, two rotisserie stalls, a pharmacy, a bunch of little restaurants, two laundromats, and even more shops that I haven't seen. Oh and lots of net cafes. Big change!
Sorry, I ramble, but that happens to me in my old age at times...
