So, I was munching on a delicious fortune cookie, and I got a really interesting one:
THE DAY WILL COME WEN YOU HAVE TO SEARCH NO LONGER.
While I enjoy reading fortunes and astrology, I don't exactly base my life around them. This one, however, showed up right at a time when it seems to be true.
Last week I had a meet and greet session with the Masters of Social Work program at UGA (actually, a satellite campus of UGA in Atlanta). It went VERY well, and I really think I made a good connection with the department head. We talked options, and he told me that it would actually look better for me to take a year off to work in the field before entering grad school. He also gave me some information about the Title-4E program. If I work for the Dept of Family and Children's Services, GA pays for my grad school; I just have to work for DFACS the number of years they pay for school (so 2 years). This not only lets me go to school for free and provides a steady job that works around my school schedule, it also gives me REALLY good experience, great references for school, and a building block for my private practice (the connections I make can refer cases to me for my counseling practice). So, it looks like my search for grad school and a job is soon to be over.
But wait, there's more...the reason I am moving to Atlanta is to be with Joe. Almost three years, and things are going well. I am moving in with him when I get down there, so that is less stress relating to finding a job immediately, an apartment, etc. He's also mentioned the possibility of a house in Gwinnett, closer to where I would be going to school.
So, in 9 months, I will be in Atlanta and moving on, but not searching.
