Since when has Indiana been a "swing state?"

Nov 03, 2008 00:09

And since when have I posted?.... never mind that. I'm here now, aren't I?

For anyone living in Indiana who may stumble upon my blog, some of you may be thinking that since you live in Indiana, your vote doesn't count. Why?
1.    This state has been "in the red" for the last umpteen elections.
2.    The electoral voting system (don't get me started)
3.     You support the libertarian candidate
4.    Any of a number of various other reasons

Well, I have a bit of news for you:
1.    Indiana is now considered a swing-state! It's 50-50! That means individual votes make a difference!
2.    I'm no fan of the electoral college, but by and large, for the most part, they'll choose the majority. Right? Am I right?
3.    You support the libertarian candidate? Go ahead and vote anyway. You'll earn potential funding for your party (?).
4.    Stop making excuses. BE A PART OF THE PROCESS; otherwise, you haven't earned the right to complain about it!

Notice -- I haven't dictated who I think you should vote for. But seriously, if you know me at all, you probably know who I support. But seriously, I reserve the right to change my mind.

That's my shpeel. Go vote. Make your voice heard. I'm not a big fan of the way we hold our elections, but if we don't participate (see the previous two presidential elections), how can we make things any better? The answer is: we can't. We can't make our world a better place if we don't try.
