I watched a new thriller series called Case Histories, starring Jason Isaacs as a private investigator Jackson Brodie (former solider and policeman).
Jason Isaacs achieves such a strength and depth to his performances. And captures imagination and heart, so I felt invested in the Jackson character: Haunted by a traumatic past experience, deeply empathetic spirit, daily struggles, and caring about his future.
There was a diverse and rich selection of female characters (personalities, motivations, life experiences, present situations . . . ) in the program.
The narrative style itself was concise and everything felt relevant: No wild tangents or blatant window-dressing, where as in a few programs you feel pretty convinced that if you dozed for twenty minutes you would still miss zilch. Lol.
Brought to screen from Kate Atkinson’s novels.
Along with further information, Case Histories is available to watch on BBC iPlayer:
