So, I work at a bookstore. It's a pretty big book store. And for the most part I enjoy my job. My fellow coworkers on the other hand, oy vey. But this isn't the place to rant about them.
No idea. Even telling them NOT to do it, they still do. We aren't going to follow every single person around. Too many customers and not enough workers for me to follow a person around for hours.
Because I thought the whole point to the rock painting was it is supposed to be 'public' where ANYONE can find them or see them. Where anyone who is a fan of painting rocks, or sticks, or whatever can either pick it up and take it home, or take it and leave another, or do a selfie with it, then put it back. It's supposed to be open to everyone.
Inside a bookstore seems 'limiting' somehow. (And plus you're inconveniencing the workers.)
I've seen the painted rocks thing too, just not indoors. Mostly outdoors in parks, or along sidewalks, but on windowsills, where folks can see them.
It's a thing I've seen parents encourage their children to do, when the kids decide they want to become street artists like Banksy or Samo (Basquiat) but the parents don't want the kids to go around spray painting other folks' property and getting arrested.
So the kids paint small things (like rocks, though cut cardboard, or popsicle sticks, or other things can be substituted as well.) And then the kids leave their things somewhere for people to see.
Though I've not heard of leaving them in a bookstore. It's like they think y'all are a library. And even there, the library parking lot would be a better option.
Wtf at the painted rocks. Like who thinks it's ok to do that in a private business? Do you know what the significance of the rocks is?
