Right? I was wondering that myself. I'm allergic to certain kinds of rice (luckily I can eat sushi) so when I go to places, I ask if there is any substitute I can get for the rice, even if there is an extra charge. If there isn't, well then I just get something else. I don't raise hell.

Basically that's what my friend said. He told the guy that the only one running a scam was him, who was obviously trying to get a free meal, and that if he was so cheap as to not be able to pay a simple meal that didn't cost more than 10USD, he had no business taking his girl out to eat. And that his line about coming every time he visits Japan wasn't at all impressive because the shop had only been opened for two years anyway. And that they could go two ways: The guy leaving himself, or that my friend could call the police and have them show him to the door. My friend also told him to get out of the country -- that he was a disgrace to decent foreigners who work hard to leave good impressions and change the impressions a lot of Japanese people have.

His girlfriend convinced him it was best to just go, so they did.

Can you please tell your friend that his reaction to that guy was just awesome. I LOVE seeing rude people getting pwned! (apologies for using that last word, I've always used it lol)
