Depends where on the Island. Victoria is either one of the most or the most expensive place to live in terms of housing in the entire country.

My parents moved there a few years back, FROM the lower mainland. The only reason I've ever been able to figure is that it IS cheaper, because on the rare occasions I've talked to them since they moved, they're always complaining about the heat/cold/bugs/moose/long summer days/endless winter nights/the fact that other people EXIST.

I've been there, and it's kind of nice in the summer time, I guess.

I'm from Florida. I hardly ever find it nice here. :-P If the shopping didn't suck so badly, I'd probably find it tolerable. :)
