1/10/09 Banner makers can only claim 3 banners MAXIMUM at one time.
4/16/08 We officially announce that banner makers will now have a "strike-slash" rule. We always look for banner makers who provided good banners. Simply put, everyone who is a banner maker here has shown good quality banners. How the strike-slash rule works is that if a banner maker makes a banner that is lazy looking and not up to par with the banners they usually make, they will be judged by at least 2-3 people. If the banner constitutes as lazy (not ugly or disliking for some pitiful reason), the banner maker will receive a slash. Every 3 times a banner maker receives a slash they will get a strike. A strike constitutes as being taken off from banner maker duty for 4 weeks time. After that 4 weeks time, they will be allowed to reapply and become an active banner maker again. After this has repeated 3 times over, the banner maker will be removed from the banner maker list permanently. The amount of chances a person gets is a long time and leaves lots of room in order to improve their banners. We're only doing this for the equality of those who put effort and time into their banners versus those who do well... not. You are all capable and hopefully none of this will happen!
Requestees->If you find that your banner is "lazy" (NOT ugly), we are going to create a post [out of this one soon~] that will allow you to discretely tell us why you think a particular banner maker didn't put enough effort into your banner. ^_^
No one has done anything lazy yet~ :D
4/6/08 gunshou becomes the clean up banner maker for cb_overflow to ensure that people get their banners in decent amounts of time. However, everyone is still free to make banners there and it is highly encouraged that they do. :D
1/20/08 As some of you may know, I have retired from iconing and moonwitch, my co-owner, is taking a back seat to the community to focus on other things offline. As I step down, please know that I appreciate all the work my mods and banner makers have done. This community would never have been possible without you. moonwitch and I thank you for all you have done.
I now turn you over to mmrobitussin, who not only is very responsible, but a great mod who will take care of you all and the community. Please have patience as a new application post is put up and some changes are made. The general rules will remain the same, but make sure you do follow any new rules that may get put in place or old ones that get altered.

1/24/07A VERY HAPPY (early) BIRTHDAY TO CUSTOM BANNERS!!! We turn 2 years old on 1/29/07! I extend a huge thank you to our past and current banner makers and moderators who have helped make thiscommunity a successful and reliable place to come to for banners. Lots of love to everyone for your hard work. :D
12/10/06 This community is implementing a strike system.
After receiving three, you will receive a permenant ban from custom_banners and cb_overflow.
Some ways to receive a strike include (but are not limited to):
1) Causing drama of any kind.
2) Being disrespectful to anyone in the community.
3)Not commenting on a banner that it's been picked up (please note thisis only applicable if we have proof that you purposely neglected tocomment).
If you don't like your banner and you do not wish to offend anyone, redobanners will discreetly redo that banner for you. However, the point is to beconsiderate and at least advise the banner maker that you have taken it.
Let me clarify that you will not be given a strike because you don't like your banner. Only that you ignored the comment that it was completed.
Please note that advertising in this community will get you an instant permenant ban.
You may leave comments or questions on this screened post. Mod's, pleaseuse this post as a place to keep track of strikes that you've had toissue.
I'm happy to say that we currently have NO striked or banned members. :D Let's keep it that way!
10/20/06 The community no longer accepts banner requests for nomination communities. Please take those kinds of requests over to cb_overflow if you want banners for those icons. This community if for traditional icontests only.
6/27/06 As of 6/25/06 no requests for banners will be permitted from icontests that have banner makers.
Bannermakers; You are just as welcome to point this out to our posters as ourmods are, and bring any drama to my attention by contacting me throughlivejournal e-mail.
All other requests can be posted at cb_overflow. Keep in mind that the community does not have banner makers and anyone may fill a banner request there.
Don't forget to check out redobanners if you're looking for someone to make you a better banner than the one you may have received from your icontest.
6/19/06 So I've decided not to put up a list of accepted communities. Instead,the following rules will be put into place effective 6/25/2006:
This community will only fill banners for communities that have no banner makers.
1) NO banner requests for non-Live Journal communities. This has always sortof been an unspoken rule. There is no reason why LJ graphic makersshould have to be responsible for filling requests for non-LJcommunities.
Note: If you have received a banner from acommunity that is low quality, I believe a new community is openingthat will remake banners for people. It's called redobanners and will be run by gunshou (who we love very much).
2) Doesn't matter how long your wait is, don't bring your banner requests here if the community you won in has banner makers.
3)This also means, even if you win during a week that you do banners forthe icontest community you participate in, don't bring your requesthere. This community is strictly for communities that do not have banner makers. The mod of your icontest community should be responsible for finding you a maker that week.
3-A) Don't send your participants to this community because you banner maker for certain weeks flaked out. custom_banners should not be in your banner rotation.
Don't abuse our banner makers!!! Banner makers have the right to inform anyone posting a request that they must remove it if it breaks any of the above rules.
There is, however, light at the end for the tunnel. As of 6/25/06, cb_overflow will open, modded by myself and the other current mods here at custom_banners. The community will accept -any- type of banner request. The catch is,it will not maintain banner makers. Anyone will be permitted to fillrequests. All the mods will do is delete posts that don't belong in thecommunity or clean up posts that have been filled. Hopefully, this will help everyone. ^_^
On a side note, I have kept the listof communities people have given me that wish to be on the acceptedlist should this community ever come to needing that switch. Until then, this is how the community will run.
