[Iceland hasn't moved far from his house--he's at a loss for options, his brothers droned, Puffin nowhere to be found, and the pillar off in the distance a reminder of what Mayfield had done this time. If he pretended it was a volcanic eruption, and not--what it was--it was a bit easier to start moving.

He does notice Cain being carried, though, and looks up from the rubble at him and the man carrying him. It wouldn't be difficult to get hurt in this sort of mess...]

[He has been staring almost blankly over Abel's shoulder as he was being carried, but movement catches his eye in the horrific stillness of dead drones and rubble.

Looking over, he tugged slightly on Abel's clothes and pointed.]

Abel... I know him, he's a friend of mine. We can't... leave him alone.

[he looks down on his brother as his attention is drawn away from the rather depressing scenery -- and almost dumbly looks over as requested. a friend...?

well, he isn't about to disoblige Cain now... and he has no idea where they're going regardless, ceasing his pace and facing toward Iceland. not that it looked like this man had a plan of action, either...]

[Iceland regards the Abel a bit nervously, but then looks back at Cain.]

How'd you get hurt? You shouldn't worry about someone else if you can't even walk.

[There's badly-concealed worry in the chiding tone.]

[If this were under any other circumstance, Cain would be touched at Iceland's concern... but as it was, he just shook his head slightly.]

I'm not hurt, just... bruises. Are you injured?

[It would be stupid to ask if he was okay, who could be okay in all this?]

[he doesn't bite, no really. Abel is a little perplexed by this exchange... it seems so surreal with the backdrop, doesn't it? >: don't mind him, he's simply surveying the damage on this street as they talk...]

Oh.

[He looks away, vaguely embarrassed that he'd been concerned over nothing.]

I'm alright. Where are you going?

I don't know, we're just trying to find somewhere safe.

[His voice got a little steadier as he spoke. He was still in shock, but it was easier to think of this as just another strategic puzzle... not real, just a simulation, just a test.]

...This... this is my brother, Abel.

[It seemed such a stupid time to be making introductions, there were so many more important things to worry over.]

[--err. introductions? the sound of his name brings his fragmented attention back around again... and he gives Iceland a wan try at a smile. HERP A DERP well this is an interesting story for the grandkids down the line.]

...It's-- good to meet you. [or something.]

[Oh, they're brothers. He looks up at Abel again.]

I'm Iceland. I lived over there.[He tilts his head in the direction of some rubble.] Nothing useful left, though.

[He wishes, desperately, for Norway to come back.]

[He remembers as well, the droned man that had been the reason they had met in the first place.]

Your friend--?

[The drones were all... was he?]

[ah. maybe that was why this man was sticking close to home?]

...If you need help... finding someone, then--

[they could... ah. they could try; but he wanted to get Cain out of this air, first.]

My brother--

[There's an awkward pause.]

He's still droned. Or he was before this.

[He doesn't want to find Norway droned and dead too.]

[Brother...

He can't imagine knowing that Abel was trapped somewhere under the rubble, and just the idea of it makes his arms tighten around his brother's neck slightly.

But only for a moment. The appearance of a goal gave him a little more clarity, something to focus on outside the shock threatening to overwhelm him. So he's wriggling gently in Abel's arms, not wanting to let go and yet needing to get down.]

We'll help find him.

[The small glance he gave Abel adds: 'We have to'. After all, what if it was one of them buried?]

[he looks reluctant -- after all, lingering out in the open when SOMEone had razed them down to the ground with nuclear weaponry was less than a sound plan.]

C-- ain...

[he's sorry, Iceland, he bets your brother is nice and everything-- but he's trying to look out for his own ;(]

[Iceland, at least, can recognize Abel's behavior. Iceland is the youngest of a family of brothers.]

...I don't want to find a drone. It's not him.

[All the drones he's seen are dead anyway.]
