dating advice circa 1934

I have no idea where these came from or how they ended up on my computer, but I just found several pages of illustrated dating advice from a women's magazine in 1934 or thereabouts. I'm trying really hard to be annoyed by the misogyny, but it's so blunt and aimed at such incredibly trivial things that I can really only find it funny. And the accompanying photographs-- of the woman and her date both-- are just amazing. The whole thing gets completely hilarious by the end.

ETA: would also like to say that I legitimately love these pictures, because admittedly they are kind of offensive and ridiculous, but also I read vintage fashion blogs and see a lot of chat about how women were by default more ~glamorous~ up until the sixties or so.

And yeah, there was a higher baseline expectation of how women would dress, but it was not a magical half-century where everyone looked like movie stars. This article is for women eighty years ago who had trouble getting their makeup right and keeping their stockings up, and sometimes forwent bras if they thought they could get away with it, and were awkward and faily about dating just as much as women now. I think it's genuinely kind of great to be reminded of that.
