So everything was going fine! The semester was over, Yuletide was over, the holiday was over, I was gonna have a nice relaxed life for the next month with nothing going horribly wrong.
And then a file got corrupted in my laptop for no reason and now it won't boot up.
I have burned a recovery CD which does nothing; torches suggests that it might work better with an external CD drive, but there is nothing I can do about that at one AM, so I am (mostly) not panicking and I am fucking well going to go finish this fic I meant to finish on Christmas so I can maybe possibly not entirely ruin something.
