Hello! You don't sound stupid at all; nobody here was born with the knowledge of how to post pictures in entries - we all had to learn! I hunted around to find a good explanation of it, and found a great how-to article here:

Just a couple other things to keep in mind -
a) pictures must be posted to this community behind an lj-cut (for info about that: http://www.livejournal.com/support/faqbrowse.bml?faqid=75&q=lj-cut&lang=)
b) I'm not sure about the nature of the photos you're wanting to post, but uploading nude photos to photobucket will get your account deleted because they don't allow that there. You can, however, upload nude photos to flickr, deviantart, and a variety of other places. (And if you're posting nudes to the community, be sure to include "18+ only due to nudity") If they're clothed pictures, photobucket should be fine :)
