Context - an anti-quote wordgame

Something I've been thinking about on the way to work this morning is the metadata of quotes. A quote is a significant saying from media - often visual media - that is bereft of its context. Yet it is the context that makes the quote significant. In my opinion the majority of modern quotes are context reliant, and only a small proportion are significant in themselves.

My idea for a wordgame is - can you describe the context of a quote in such a way that people can work out what the quote is? How familiar would they need to be with the source material?

For example-

A grey haired man sticks a cigar into his mouth before boasting to his three friends in the van.
