Nova Scotia offers $20 a coyote pelt, insists it’s not a bounty.
"The NDP minister said the subsidy is different from a bounty because its specific intent is not to reduce coyote numbers. An extra $20 a pelt will encourage trappers hurt by low prices to take more coyotes, he explained, which should have the desired effect of helping make the rest more wary of humans.
He acknowledged the distinction might not be obvious.
"I think if you go to check Webster’s, you’d probably find that every way you could find a definition, this will be defined as a bounty," he acknowledged."
