But I guess
that's okay, since pitching is my job. We're in first place now and we swept the Yankees this weekend. That's important not only because it gives us 3 wins and them 3 losses, but also because at the end of the season if we end up tied, head-to-head competition is one of the first things they look at for a tiebreaker.
Last week I did Faith's thing where you could ask me 3 questions (and anyone else who wants to still can). I answered the questions in comments but I might as well put them here, too, right?
michelle_kwan asked:
1. Do you think the curse is even real?
2. What question should I ask cuz I cannot think?
3. Isn't Faith Hill hot?
and I answered:
1. No, I don't think it's real at all. First, I'm a Christian so I don't believe in curses anyway. But also I think it's guys just not playing as hard as maybe they can. Part of why the Sox acquired people like me was to be sure of winning this year, no excuses.
2. I don't know, that means I'll have to think of my own question, huh? I'll have to get back to you on that.
3. Yes, she sure is! Tim's a lucky man ;)
_faith_hill asked:
1. Who was your idol growing up?
2. Is there someone in the sport of baseball you could play against?
3. What is your favorite song?
and I said:
1. Lou Gehrig all the way. He was not only a great ballplayer, but a man of incredible courage and faith. My eldest son (in this icon with me) is named Gehrig after him.
2. I'm not sure if I understand what you're asking. If I could pitch to anyone who's ever played the sport, it would be Ted Williams; I think he's one of the greatest hitters who ever lived. Babe Ruth and Willie Mays would be right up there, too.
3. Amazing Grace, especially Patsy Cline's a capella version.
yulia_khorkina asked:
1. if you could re-do any 1 event in your life, what would it be and why.
2. you have 3 wishes. what are they? more wishes and money are not allowed.
3. you are either deaf or blind. you choose. why did you pick the one you chose?
and I said:
You definitely asked the hardest questions!!
1. I'm going to have to think about this one more, this is the toughest
2. a) ALS to be cured b) cancer to be cured c) for everyone to know Jesus Christ as their Savior
3. I always hate this question ;) Deaf, because I could still play baseball.
_jaimepressly asked:
1. Will you add me?
2. Whats your favorite thing about playing baseball?
3. If you could switch to any team, would you, and what team would it be if you decided to?
and I answered:
1. yes, and I have :)
2. scouting a player well enough to know what to throw him in order to get him out. Strikeouts are fun and dramatic, but if he hits it right to one of my guys for an out, that's just as good, too.
3. I pretty much did that with my switch to Boston this year. My wife and one of my sons have some pretty serious skin cancer, so I wanted to get them out of the sun. My wife and I both grew up in the East and love it there, so Boston is about the perfect choice for us.
So I still have to think of Michelle's second question and answer it, and answer Yulia's first question, too.
