... Ah. The position of a mistress. Not as foreign to me as the clothing and surroundings.

And those stories I told... were all part of mine so very dear to me ( Read more... )

Lady Lailis, I would like to thank you for the story you told me. I am sorry I did not reciprocate in kind as I promised I would, but it seems I spent most of the rest of the day trying to write a poem I might offer you in return.

...You may have it now, if you should like it. However, I must warn you: It seems to me entirely inappropriate when considered with a clear mind...the influence of the curse obviously eradicated much of my better judgment.

... Ah, Sir Ptolemy.

I would like to hear it, sir, since you spent so much time on it.

...Then you may have it, improper as it is. I apologize for its forwardness and its assumptive manner; it is not how I normally write or behave.

You have not danced so badly, my dear,
Trying to hold hands with the Beautiful One.

You have waltzed with great style,
My sweet, crushed angel,
To have ever neared God's heart at all.

Our Partner is notoriously difficult to follow,
And even His best musicians are not always easy
To hear.

So what if the music has stopped for a while.

So what
If the price of admission to the Divine
Is out of reach tonight.

So what, my dear,
If you do not have the ante to gamble for Real Love.

The mind and the body are famous
For holding the heart ransom,

But Hafiz knows the Beloved's eternal habits.

Have patience,

For He will not be able to resist your longing
For Long.

You have not danced so badly, my dear,
Trying to kiss the Beautiful One.

You have actually waltzed with tremendous style,
O my sweet,
O my sweet crushed angel.

That was lovely, Sir Ptolemy.

It seems you have a gift for verse.

...It has not offended you, then?

Only on curse days, I assure you. Normally, I far prefer the writing of treatises and the like.

How could I take offense at such lovely words?

...I thank you for your praise, then. It may be better directed towards the City deities, though, as they are the ones who found it fit to make me a poet for the day.

((OOC: ...Which is his idea of a joke. He's still working on Appropriate Places For Humour 101. XD))

Ah... I suppose so. But, I've no desire to speak with gods, so I will commend you in their stead.

{ooc: XD}

I will accept it, then, on their behalf. Thank you, Lady Lailis.

((OOC: Letting a deadpan Brit teach a kid how to be funny? Does not always work. XD))
