She was cold, bone chilling cold. Her teeth chattering and her limbs shaking from it. The blankets she had enveloped herself in didn't seem to take the chill out of Helen any time soon, as she desperately tried to get some sleep. The exhaustion was probably one factor why she couldn't seem able to warm up.

Again she turned on her cot, slowly, since her strength still wasn't fully back. The entity, if you wanted to call it that, as well as her short death left her weakened. A deep shudder ran through Helen as she remembered the way Will begged for her to wake up, the way his voice shook with emotion. He had done the right thing, if he hadn't she, it, would've killed them both in the end.

When Helen had begged Will to make the right choice when the time came, she knew that it was a lot to ask of her young protege. He had a soft heart and even faced with imminent danger he was the last to use force. She had forced him to accept her wish and knew how much it would hurt him if he ever had to go through with his promise but Helen also needed to be reassured that his soft heart, which she admired him greatly for, would not be the cause for him to get killed too.

Raising her cold hand from under the blanket, Helen rubbed it over her heavy lidded eyes. Her thoughts were running haywire in her head. Will's voice always there when she closed her eyes, begging her to wake up again. The pain she had made out in it, once she had resurrected from the nothingness, shook her deeply.

They had become close over the few months he had worked for the Sanctuary. Closer than she had let any almost stranger in in a long time and it scared her how easily he started playing an important role not only in the Sanctuary, because that is what she had offered him the job for, but also in her life as well. Helen had actually found herself looking forward to the times spend with him. Will's curiosity still made her smile, even if his incessant questioning sometimes made her roll her eyes when he asked about her past or analyzed her decisions.

With a heavy sigh Helen twisted back to face the wall once more and willed her rampant thoughts into silence. Now was not the time to give herself another headache over her strange feelings for the young psychologist.

'Don't even go there!'

She yelled at her mind. But it was already too late as she realized she was thinking about her talk with him about the Nubbins they had brought back to the Sanctuary. She had felt hot and cold at the same time, in that room with him, staring at him and trying to be nonchalant while her heart had been beating furiously. Of course she knew that it was the Nubbins fault.

'Oh come on! You know that the Nubbins only enhanced what you felt.'

“Ugh!”

“You ok Magnus?”

Helen actually jolted when she heard his voice from the cot over hers. It sounded sleep roughened and she could just imagine how his eyes were droopy and his hair all mussed from his nap.

“I regret having woken you Will.”

Shuffling sounds came from the topmost cot and she actually held her breath, rolling her eyes at herself when she realized it.
“You're still freezing?”

His voice was close now. Will must've come down and it sounded like he was kneeling before her cot now. When he had put Helen to bed and ordered her to sleep while they made their slow ascent, he had insisted that she'd take his cot at the bottom, knowing it would be easier for her to access it with the little of strength she had been left with.

Helen managed a weak nod and tried to force her teeth from clattering so loudly.

“Move over!”

Will winced as he saw Helen spin her head around sharply. He was sure she felt like death warmed over, she certainly looked it. Being the gentleman though that he considered himself to be, Will hadn't mentioned that fact to her.

Once her confused eyes settled on his he realized what he had just offered to his 'mentor' and had the grace to blush a little.

“You're freezing Magnus! You'll never get to sleep if you don't warm up.”

Before she had the chance to protest Will slipped into the bed beside her and made her shuffle over. His hands were actually shaking as he pried lose the blankets around her and slipped under them.

'Maybe this is a stupid idea considering... .'

He steeled his jaw to repress the thought. So what if? It was it was partly his fault he reasoned. She needed him now and Will desperately needed to redeem himself.

'You killed her!'

He held back the shudder at the thought. No sense in going there yet again.

“Turn around!”

“Will...!”

Sighing he grabbed her softly and forced Helen to roll over, pulled the blankets higher over them and tugged her against his chest.

“God you feel like a Popsicle.”

She was rigid in his arms, shaking softly but once his warmth seeped into her, Will felt her literally loosen up and snuggle closer to him.

'Be still my heart'

He admonished but it fluttered stronger and he sighed inwardly. Ever after their run in with the Nubbin's he felt odd towards Magnus. Since he started at the Sanctuary he had been sure she would, just not in the way that it happened. The evening from weeks ago, when they had talked late at night, their sentences filled with heavy innuendo.
Will had wondered afterwards what would've happened if they had been exposed longer. The episode with Ashley in her room didn't concern him. He liked Ashley, ok. But what happened between him and her mother was far more disconcerting because Will knew he would've gone much farther with her. When that realization had struck him it floored Will. Was he falling for Helen Magnus? A woman decades older then him?

Frowning he tugged Helen closer still, pressing her hard against his chest and rubbing gently over her back to warm her up. His heartbeat stepped up a notch and before he could help himself he felt his face burying itself in her hair.

“Will?”

Her voice was weak and hitching, partly due to her shivering.

“I killed you!”

Will's voice wavered ever so softly. He felt it then, Helen's hands inching up his chest, grabbing fistfuls of his shirt as if desperate.

“You made the right choice.”

Yes, he did. That didn't mean it would hurt less or be less shocking that he found himself capable of such a violent act.

Helen's hands let go of his shirt and inched higher again, softly framing his face and pulling it down so he had to look at her.

She was still ghostly pale, her lips slowly regaining their rosy color, as his body heat seeped into her in waves, and they quivered softly. Will's eyes held hers and he realized that both of them had teared up a bit.

“You saved me Will!”

Squeezing his eyes shut he tried to make that statement his mantra. He had saved Helen. After he killed her... .

One tear spilled.

“Oh Will!”

Helen's heart broke a little more as she saw a single tear spill from his squeezed shut eyes. She had guessed how it must have affected him but this show of raw emotions was even beyond that.

In the fraction of a second, before she could stop herself doing so, her head had tilted up while her thumb had wiped over his cheek, catching the salty moisture.

And so Helen Magnus pressed her cold lips against Will's warm ones, wishing to will away his pain by some kind of reassuring contact between them.

It was meant as comfort, twisted idea, yes but she had hoped it would give him some kind of peace. As she felt Will return her 'sentiments' however, it felt like her heart would burst out of her chest and with it a rush of warmth spread throughout her like a wildfire.

The simple lip lock soon turned into soft nibbles and bites, his hands clutching at her sides, while hers still held his faced framed as their lips mashed heatedly. Their breathing huffed between them, his warm breath's fluttering over her now rosy cheeks, his hands not idle on her torso, grabbing and stroking.

He rolled on top of her all of a sudden and a moan burst from Helen's mouth as she felt the hard planes of his body press into her softer one's and his hands tangled in her hair to tug her closer to his burning lips.

As Helen felt his tongue deftly stroke over her lips to beg entry she twisted her head to the side softly. She was heavily panting by now, her hands clutching at his shoulders and back.

“Will?”

“I need to feel you're alive Helen.”

The use of her first name was her undoing. She didn't know why or how, but hearing the desperation in those words, feeling his heart beating strongly in his chest and the heat rolling off him somehow killed all her doubts and worries. They had time until they would land in the closest harbor and she'd give them that.

A day to get this out of their systems and hopefully erasing some of the pain in Will. Helen knew it could raise problems between them but she also knew he needed this more than anything else. And so she succumbed to his pleading eyes and leaned in once more, her eyes closing as their tongues touched softly for the first time.
